Setup

From first collar sync to first breeding alert in under a week.

Ovum is designed for farms, not data engineers. Four steps, minimal configuration, and you're receiving per-cow window alerts before the end of your first week.

Four Steps

Setup in a week, alerts for every cycle after

1
Connect your collars
Enter your collar system's API key in Ovum settings, or download a CSV export from your collar dashboard and upload it. Ovum parses the activity data automatically. For farms using multiple collar types, you can connect each system separately. Total setup time: 10 minutes.
2
Input your cycle history
Import any existing heat observation records from your herd management files. If you have recorded dates and cow IDs for past confirmed heats, Ovum can use this to accelerate calibration. No past records? Start fresh and the model will build from first principles over the first two cycles.
3
Calibration period
Ovum observes collar activity data during the first 1-3 cycles for each cow. It is learning the individual activity baseline, the typical cycle interval, and the shape of each cow's pre-oestrus signature. You can see calibration progress per cow in the dashboard. No alerts yet during this phase.
4
Receive your first breeding alerts
From cycle 4 onward, breeding window alerts begin arriving on your phone, by SMS, or in your 6am email digest. Each alert shows cow ID, window open time, window close time, and a confidence score. Act on the alert. Record the outcome. The model learns.

Daily Dashboard

What you see every morning

The Ovum herd dashboard gives you everything you need at 6am before the day starts.

The dashboard is built for a herd manager who checks it once in the morning and acts on what it shows. No charts that require interpretation. Three panels, clear data.

  • 1.
    Today's breeding alerts
Which cows have windows opening today, the open and close time for each, and the confidence score. Sorted by window open time so you see the most urgent first.
  • 2.
    This week's upcoming windows
Plan the week's A.I. bookings in advance. See which cows are due in the next 7 days and coordinate with your technician or AI straw stock.
  • 3.
    Conception rate trend
Rolling 90-day conception rate for the herd. Broken down by mob if you have multiple groups. Compares to your 6-month pre-Ovum baseline once enough data accumulates.

Breeding Alerts

What a breeding window alert looks like

Each alert tells you exactly what you need: which cow, when the window opens, when it closes, and how confident the model is. You decide whether to act.

The alert arrives 12 hours before the window opens, giving you time to arrange an A.I. technician booking or prepare your own equipment. A second close-window notification fires when the fertile window ends.

A confidence score below 70% means the model is still early in calibration for that cow. High-confidence alerts (85%+) come from cows with 5+ recorded cycles in Ovum.
